Ant Cities

Ants are fascinating creatures.  They are as interesting to watch as fish in an aquarium or reptiles and amphibians in a vivarium.  Many baby-boomers probably recall with fondness their ant farms from childhood.  While interesting, these were small enclosures that were not meant for a true, functioning ant colony.  They contained a few worker ants that would dig tunnels for a while, in a rather sad attempt to fulfill their function in life, and soon die.

We are in the process of designing and creating large enclosures intended for homes, offices and other private uses, which will accommodate and maintain entire, functioning ant colonies.  We call them ant cities.  There will be a variety of designs, including wall-mounted and free-standing room models.  Each enclosure will include modifications to meet the needs of different ant species commonly found in various parts of the country, which will commonly be housed in the ant cities.

We will want to install and test various prototype ant city models soon.  If you would like to volunteer to test one of these prototypes, contact us.  The ant city and the installation will be free.  However, there will be certain requirements you will need to meet so that we can effectively evaluate the success of these prototypes.  If you are willing to put up with a little inconvenience and work, this is a good opportunity to be one of the very first to have one of these wonderful environments in your home or office – something we hope will be really different and spectacular.
